Canvas Prints
Print Production
Images are printed at the highest resolution using a custom profile to achieve accurate colour and neutral black & whites. Images printed using a ‘generic’ canvas setting produce inaccurate results.
Canvas Quality and Longevity
Our canvas is certified ‘Archival Quality’ by the ‘Fine Art Trade Guild’. It is superior in its exceptional colour reproduction. It does not contain whitening agents like cheaper canvases, so the image remains consistent over time. Canvases with whitening agents will eventually discolour.
Varnish
We use a Museum Grade Matte Giclee Veneer that further enhances the print quality and offers protection from scuffs and moisture. It also eliminates cracking. Cheaper produced canvases can start cracking on the edges quite quickly
Frames (Stretcher Bars)
Our stretcher bars are made of solid pine from sustainable forests. Cheap canvas suppliers usually use very lightweight fir wood bars that are not built to last. Our bars are still light enough for canvases to hang easily on standard picture hooks but have a much more solid and robust feel.
Post Production
Images are prepared for printing individually on order and uploaded to the lab. Some images have plenty of room compositionally just to be printed and wrapped, leaving the subject on the front face of the canvas, others require some photoshop work to clone some extra space around the edges. This is normally indistinguishable and in on the sides, top and bottom of the canvas in any case.
In the unlikely event that I think it looks as if it will reduce the impact of the image, I will contact you and either advise a smaller size, conventional print or to have white or black sides to the canvas. I certainly won't go ahead and order something that is likely to disappoint.
It's simply too time consuming to scale every image available to every size possible and adjust each product individually. In the vast majority of cases things scale just fine.
